* INTRODUCTION:- VPN is a Virtual Private Network which makes you anonymous basically VPN changes your IP address with another IP address & unblock any blocked websites. In 1996 VPN technology was started when Microsoft employee developed the PPTP. The protocol creates a more secure private connection between a user's device and Internet. A few years later, in 1999, this specification was published. As the need for a more secure connection between user's device and Internet then VPN technology started growing. It create an encrypted connection between your device and Internet.
* WORK OF VPN:- Before knowing that how VPN works you must know relation between your IP address & websites. Like if some websites banned in your country then you can access that particular website using VPN. Basically when you serve any website then a request is send to that particular website from your IP address and if that particular website banned in your country then you can't be reach to that particular website because of your IP address but when you use VPN it replace your current IP address by another location's IP address. After that when you serve that particular website then this time a request send to that particular website from that "another location's IP address" for this now you can be able to reach that website which you can't do that before. And if use VPN and some one try to track your IP address then that person track your VPN server's IP address not your original IP address. There many servers available in a VPN. VPN makes the connection between your device and Internet encrypted means no one can leak the information like when you share some sensitive information to any website without using any VPN then a hacker can easily leak that sensitive information. Remember one thing VPN doesn't makes you completely anonymous. If you serve internet through VPN then its server store all of those information which you have serve to the Internet and if you made any illegal activities then Government can take all of those information from that particular VPN server and easily track you. Use VPN for good things don't use it for any illegal activity.
VPN BAN IN INDIA
* REASONS:- There are many reasons that Home Ministry want to ban it.
The following reasons mentioned below:-
1. Most important reasons behind to completely ban VPN in India are "Pornographic Content" & "Cyber Fraud" because most of the peoples visit porn website using VPN which website is banned in India. For that child abuse , rape case, women abusing and many illegal works are increase also cyber criminals use VPN so that their original location can't be trackable that's why online scams are increase. Many peoples lose lots of money almost every day because of those online scams. To protect them from those online scams Home Ministry want to ban VPN in India.
2. Parliamentary panel also says to Indian government that our agencies should take action about THE DARK WEB and train out authorities to catch all of those criminals who watches porn using VPN and make some illegal activities like rape.
3. You can notice one thing that usage of VPN was increased after COVID-19 lockdown and also after banned PUBG because most of the people play PUBG using VPN which is also banned in India that's the one reason.
4. Remember one thing VPN is not illegal because if you serve internet using VPN then it's creates a tunnel between your device and Internet which is a good thing for staying safe from external attacks and maintaining your privacy basically it's works as a security layer and also it hides your information like which websites you visit from your service provider and also from Government. If you go any hotel , railway station or cybercafe and you don't trust their Wi-Fi network in that situation you can use VPN as a security step but as you know every thing has a some good sides and also has some bad sides. It's makes you anonymous now some one can make some criminal activities staying anonymous so that's one of the reason behind the decision ban of the VPN.
5. One another reason to ban VPN is if two criminals talk to each other using VPN and they try to execute their plan in that case normal people may be in trouble so that Home Ministry want to ban it.
DRAWBACKS FOR BAN VPN
There are also some drawbacks for ban VPN technology.
1. As mentioned above VPN is a security layer like when you share any sensitive information like your bank account details in that case VPN protect your information from leak. But if it banned then your security will be not like that.
2. Many IT companies use VPN to secure their companies informations. Without VPN is not possible.
3. Journalists are use VPN to secure their traffic informations. After ban of VPN it's not possible.
4. If some good websites( like from where you can gather some good information ) are blocked in your country then you can't be able to access those websites without VPN.
5. If you doing some important work using public Wi-Fi where you share your sensitive informations and you want that information not suppose to be leak then you can use VPN but after ban VPN your security layer will be decrease.
6. In some cases you file downloading speed will increase using VPN.
So these are some drawbacks you will be face after ban VPN technology.
